Bringing Your Smile Together

Bridges are made of two elements. The bridge is supported by healthy teeth on either side of the space, which are called abutment teeth. The space is filled with a “pontic,” which looks like a tooth and is attached to abutments on either end. The abutment teeth are prepared just as we would prepare teeth for dental crowns. Impressions are taken and the bridge is created in a dental lab, and then cemented into place at a subsequent visit with Durham dentist Dr. Schlotterer.
