A Chance to Fill in the Blanks
The technical term is dental amalgam, but you know them as fillings. Made of a mixture of mercury and an alloy of silver, tin, and copper, fillings fill up the space where decay caused a cavity. Mercury is the only element that will bind these metals together so they can be manipulated into a tooth cavity. The resulting compound creates a strong, durable filling. For a more natural look, we can also use CEREC same-day technology to create fillings of tooth-colored ceramic material at Digital Dentistry at Southpoint, a Durham dental practice. With CEREC natural-looking fillings, no one will even be able to see that they are there!
